Off-duty cop killed

The NYPD is investigating the stabbing death of an off-duty police officer. Arianna Reyes-Gomez was stabbed several times inside her apartment in the Bronx.

An off-duty NYPD officer was stabbed to death inside her apartment in the Bronx early Monday morning, said police. A man, reportedly her estranged husband, later surrendered to authorities.

Cops responded to a 911 call at 2:50 a.m. about a woman stabbed inside an apartment on the first floor of 780 Grand Concourse. Officers found Arianna Reyes-Gomez, 31, with multiple stab wounds throughout her body, the NYPD said. EMS pronounced her dead.

Her estranged husband later surrendered at a local police precinct, the New York Post reported.

Authorities charged Argenis Baez, 33, with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon, the NYPD said.

Reyes-Gomez had been assigned to the Transit Bureau.

Suspect in custody in cop's murder

Police detectives escort Argenis Baez from the 44th Precinct station house in the Bronx to an unmarked car to be taken to central booking. Baez is accused of murdering his estranged wife, Arianna Reyes-Gomez, inside her apartment. Reyes-Gomez was a New York City police officer.

The Police Benevolent Association, the union that represents rank-and-file police officers, said it would support Reyes-Gomez's family.

"We are horrified and heartbroken by the death of our @NYPDTransit sister in the Bronx this morning," the PBA tweeted. "We will remain with her family and her colleagues in support and prayer. We will see that justice is done in her name. #RIP"
