NYPD officer accused of love triangle shooting

An off-duty NYPD officer is accused of shooting her ex-girlfriend and killing the woman's new lover Wednesday night in Brooklyn.

An off-duty NYPD officer has been accused of shooting two women inside of a home in Brooklyn.

According to authorities, a series of 9-1-1 calls about gunfire brought police to a home on 19th Avenue and 79th Street in Bensonhurst just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found off-duty NYPD officer Yvonne Wu, 31, waiting for them outside the home. Wu allegedly told officers that she had shot two people inside the home.

Upon entering the home, officers found two victims. A 23-year-old woman, believed to be Wu's ex-girlfriend, was found in the home's bedroom, with a gunshot wound to the torso. The second victim, 24-year-old Jamie Liang, was found in the living room with at least one gunshot wound in her chest.

Liang was believed to be romantically involved with Officer Wu's ex-girlfriend.

Both women were taken to Maimonides Hospital, where Liang was pronounced dead. The 23-year-old is expected to recover.

Wu is a 5-and-a-half-year NYPD veteran who was assigned to the Brooklyn South precinct. Police say she was "calm, collected and very forthcoming" regarding what had transpired, and confessed to the shooting. Authorities believe her service weapon may have been used in the incident.

Wu was charged with murder and attempted murder. The state Attorney General's Office is handling the investigation.
