(FOX 11) - An off-duty deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department is being called a hero.
This is deputy Robert Carrasco holding a smiling three-year-old Nathan Lopez.
Last month Carrasco was having dinner with his family at a restaurant when he noticed Nathan was choking.
He raced over gave him several blows to the back and eventually dislodged a piece of candy that was stuck in Nathan's throat.
Nathan's mom and dad admitted they felt helpless when their son was choking and credit Carrasco for saving his life.
