NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Four pedestrians were injured--three with life-threatening injuries--when the driver of a stolen SUV ran a red light and slammed into another SUV in East Flatbush, Brooklyn Monday, according to officials.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene at the intersection of Remsen St. and Rutland Rd. at about 9:15 a.m. where two SUVs collided.
Police arrested Stephen Brumaire, 18, and charged him with grand larceny, driving without a license, and operating a vehicle without permission, the AP reported. Police said he was behind the wheel of a Chevy Tahoe that ran the red light and hit a Nissan Pathfinder.
The Nissan then jumped a curb and hit a fence just as a baby sitter was pushing a baby. The AP reported that the stroller was struck, but the baby was not seriously injured. The sitter, who was not struck, was hurt but not seriously.
The Tahoe hit a mother and her 2-year-old son, who was also in a stroller. Police said that the mother was in critical condition, the AP reported. The child was also hit but did not appear to be seriously hurt.
Video from the scene showed severely damaged vehicles, a child's scooter, two strollers, and a lot of debris.
