On Sunday, a man was stabbed to death while sleeping on a subway entering Penn Station.
In a statement, the head of a transit advocacy group said its members were devastated about this latest killing in the Penn Station area.
"We are concerned about the growing drug sales and open drug use in the station," Passengers United president Charlton D'souza said in a statement. "The lack of a unified police command by one entity is creating jurisdictional issues that must be addressed by the Mayor and Governor immediately."
At least four separate police departments have a presence in and around Penn Station and Herald Square: The NYPD, MTA Police, Amtrak Police, and New Jersey Transit Police.
