NYPD: Man busted for dragging puppy from truck

New York City police have arrested a Westchester County man suspected of dragging a puppy from a pickup truck and then abandoning it on a street in the Bronx.

A few days ago, the NYPD released a grainy photo of the suspect taken at about 12:30 p.m. on September 17, 2018, at the intersection of 182nd Street and Belmont Avenue in the Bronx.

Police said the man dragged a female beagle puppy from the rear of a white Lincoln Mark LT pickup and then tossed her onto the street.

Police believe Loro Gjonaj, 77, of Yonkers, is the man in the image. Cops arrested him on Tuesday, October 2, and charged him with torturing an animal and the abandonment of a disabled animal, the NYPD announced.

If you have information about Gjonaj or this incident, you can contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers at 800-577-8477 or www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
