Police officers fatally killed an armed suspect in Brooklyn Monday evening after responding to a call of a home invasion, authorities said.  The shooting on 78th Street near Stillwell Avenue in Gravesend at about 6:38 p.m. Police believe two men had broken into a home.

Cops saw one suspect escape through a window of an apartment and then scale a fence. The NYPD said a sergeant confronted the suspect, who pointed a revolver at him. The sergeant and a police officer fired at suspect, who was hit twice.

The wounded suspect died at Coney Island Hospital. He was 39 years old, police said.

Residents of the apartment that was broken into told police that another suspect fled just before police arrived.

Cops are looking for him.

Police recovered a firearm at the scene.  Seven adults and an infant inside the apartment were unarmed, police said.
