NYPD: Body found in Queens park
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - A body was found in Alley Pond Park in Queens Sunday afternoon, the NYPD said.
Responding to a 911 call just before 2 p.m., officers found an "unconscious and unresponsive" man in a section of the woods near 76th Street and Cloverdale Road in Oakland Gardens. Medics also responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.
The New York City Medical Examiner will try to determine how the man died. Police are investigating.
The NYPD is not releasing the man's identity until his family is notified.
Alley Pond Park has several nature trails popular with hikers and runners. It also has ball fields, playgrounds, a nature center, and an obstacle course.
UPDATE: Initially, the NYPD said a woman's body was found.
