Fun in the snow in Central Park

The mayor said classes would be held via remote learning. Many parents decided that spending time in the snow in Central Park was a better use of their kids' time.

New York City school buildings stayed closed on Thursday due to the snowfall from a powerful nor'easter that moved through the area Wednesday into Thursday. However, students did not get to enjoy a true snow day because remote classes were held instead. Many students were already doing classes online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that school buildings will be open on Friday for those students who have opted for in-person instruction.

No more snow days?
