Infant wrapped in blankets found inside abandoned tote bag outside NYC building
THE BRONX - An infant girl was found wrapped in blankets inside a tote bag and left outside an apartment building in the Bronx, the NYPD said.
Police responded to a 911 call on Sunday just after 6 a.m. for a crying baby on Reverend James A Polite Avenue in the Longwood section. The girl was found wrapped in blankets inside the discarded bag, police said.
The infant girl was found wrapped in blankets inside a tote bag outside an apartment building, police said.
The girl was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition, where she remained in the care of hospital staff.
"Hearing that this is even a thing is very disturbing for this neighborhood," one person told FOX 5 NY.
The NYPD hopes the 24-hour surveillance video on the apartment building, which shows the moment the baby was abandoned, will help lead them to an arrest. Police are searching for a person who was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, light pants and white sneakers.
The NYPD is searching for this person in connection with the incident.
No arrests have been made.
