Queens sex assault suspect dead after car crash

The suspect wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl in Queens has died after a car crash on Friday afternoon.

The NYPD says that the suspect wanted for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl in Queens is dead after a car crash.

The suspect, 64-year-old Wayne Noel, was allegedly at a supermarket in Queens Village on Thursday when he approached a 9-year-old girl who was there with her grandmother.

Police say that while the grandmother was in the bathroom, he abducted the girl.

The incident happened on Thursday near 213 Street and Jamaica Avenue in Queens Village, the NYPD said. (LLN NYC)

Police say Noel's dragged the girl by her hair into is car, drove to a nearby area and sexually assaulted the victim. That assault was interrupted by a good Samaritan and, in response, Noel allegedly drove away and parked near the supermarket, sexually assaulting the victim a second time.  

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

After an 18-hour search following the assault, police say they spotted Noel on Friday afternoon and gave chase.

Noel attempted to flee in his car, before crashing into another vehicle. Police say Noel sustained severe head trauma and died as a result of the crash.
