NYC Blackout July 14, 1977
A massive power failure on July 14, 1977 left New York City in the dark. The 24-hour blackout led to acts of vandalism in some parts of the city. Former New York City Mayor Abraham Beame said some 2,000 people were arrested.
Firefighters answered 1,500 alarms stores throughout the city; 400 of which were actual fires.
