NY assemblywoman disciplined for harassing aide

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- A New York state lawmaker from suburban Buffalo has been disciplined after allegations she sexually harassed her director of legislation.

As part of her punishment, Republican Assemblywoman Angela Wozniak of Cheektowaga will be prohibited from hiring interns and will receive a formal letter of admonition stating that she violated the Assembly's rules on sexual harassment.

The Assembly Ethics Committee determined that Wozniak and her male director of legislation entered into a consensual sexual relationship last year that ended when Wozniak told her husband about the affair. The committee concluded that Wozniak then attempted to retaliate against the employee when he filed a complaint.

Wozniak didn't initially respond to messages seeking comment.

She was elected in 2014 to replace Democrat Dennis Gabryszak. He resigned after being accused of sexually harassing staffers.
