NJ Turnpike tractor-trailer crash leads to overpass wall collapse
ELIZABETH, NJ - Part of an overpass wall on the New Jersey Turnpike collapsed Monday night in Elizabeth.
First responders rushed onto the highway for the crash involving a tractor-trailer.
The vehicle overturned on the south outer roadway, just north of the Goethals Bridge. The collision took out part of the overpass wall, causing it to crash onto the street below.
There’s no word on the cause of the crash or if anyone was injured.
Meanwhile, the issues also caused major disruptions to both Amtrak and NJ Transit.
Amtrak warned of residual delays. NJ Transit said Northeast Corridor rail service has resumed with limited service in both directions due to Amtrak overhead wire issues in Metuchen.
There's no word on when the mess will clear up, but the truck lane that was closed earlier as a result of the crash is back open.
