Amtrak, NJ Transit service resumes

Rail service in and out of Penn Station New York has resumed after having up to 60-minute delays due to Amtrak overhead wire issues near Newark Penn Station. FOX 5 NY's Lisa Evers has the latest.

It was a bad start to the post-Thanksgiving holiday workweek for New Jersey Transit and Amtrak riders.

NJ Transit delays

Rail service in and out of Penn Station New York had up to 60-minute delays due to Amtrak overhead wire issues near Newark Penn Station. Midtown Direct service into New York was diverted to Hoboken. 

Around 10:40 a.m., Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line service resumed with limited service out of Penn Station New York, NJ Transit said. 

"Raritan Valley Line service will originate/terminate at Newark Penn Station due to Amtrak overhead wire issues near Newark Penn Station," NJ Transit said in a post on X.
