Very creative and talented students at North Bergen High School in New Jersey adapted the 1979 film "Alien," starring Sigourney Weaver, into a stage play.

A video of their performance went viral online. It garnered tens of thousands of views as well as shout-outs from celebrities, including actor Elijah Wood and director Joss Whedon.

Ibrahim Jaludi, Gabriella Delacruz and other students started putting together the play last year with guidance from teacher Perfecto Cuervo, who has a film background and spent two months adapting the Ridley Scott movie into a play.

The superintendent said the success of the play further fuels the desire to create a separate high school for performing arts. The teachers said they hope they are providing students with skills beyond putting on a play but skills that will be valuable for the rest of their lives.
