With coronavirus cases rising, bars and restaurants in New Jersey must close by 10 p.m.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy announced new rules involving bars, restaurants, casinos, and youth sports due to rising coronavirus cases in the state.

All restaurants must close indoor dining by 10 p.m. starting on Thursday. Outdoor dining, takeout, or delivery services may continue past 10 p.m.

Barside seating will be prohibited at all hours under the new rules.

Restaurants will be allowed to place tables closer than six feet if they are separated by barriers.

The governor also announced that starting Thursday all interstate games and tournaments for indoor youth sports are to be banned in New Jersey for the immediate future

New Jersey restrictions

Due to rising coronavirus cases, New Jersey is bringing back some restrictions on businesses and gatherings. For example, sitting at the bar area of a restaurant is banned.

.Murphy said that schools across the state will start being offered masks for students and staff under a new program.

The governor announced 2,075 new cases on Monday afternoon, bringing the state's total since the virus starting being tracked in March to 256,653 cases. Murphy said another 11 deaths in New Jersey were blamed on the coronavirus, bringing the state's total to 14,640.

Under the new rules, which take effect Nov. 12, all restaurants in New Jersey must close indoor dining by 10 p.m. Sitting at the bar will be prohibited at all hours. Outdoor dining, takeout, or delivery services may continue past 10 p.m.
