NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - On a rainy Tuesday afternoon a year after the murder of rapper Chinx, his family, friends and fans came together to honor his memory. The up and coming rapper's dreams were cut short by deadly gun violence.
As the vigil to Lionel Pickens Jr., better known as the rapper Chinx, is growing at 84th Drive and Queens Boulevard, so is the sense of loss for his loved ones.
Chinx was found shot and slumped over in his Porsche Panamera very early Sunday morning, May 17, 2015. He was on his way home from a club date at a time in his life when he was on the brink of mainstream success.
Police say he was targeted by someone determined to take his life. In an exclusive interview with the lead detectives last month, they told me there have been many leads, but no breakthrough. Nothing has changed at this point.
Right now there is a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest. Chinx's widow, Janelli Pickens, says she is trying to find a way to increase that reward so that someone with key information will talk.
