NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - American parents just love Sophia and Jackson. For baby names, that is. BabyCenter.com has compiled the top-100 most-popular names given to baby girls and boys in the United States in 2016. Sophia for girls and Jackson for boys topped the list again.
The website compiled the list from submissions from 400,000 parents. BabyCenter.com ranked the names based on various spellings of the same-sounding names; for example, Sophia and Sofia.
Other popular names after Sophia for girls were: Emma, Olivia, Ava, Mia, and Isabella. You'll note that all six of these names end in "A."
The top boy's names after Jackson were: Aiden, Lucas, Liam, Noah, and Ethan.
