60-year-old NJ hiker found safe after going missing in Ringwood State Park
NEW JERSEY - Police in New Jersey say they have found a 60-year-old hiker who went missing in Ringwood State Park.
Police believe Carole Heinbach, an experienced hiker and park volunteer, went hiking near Skylands Manor earlier in the afternoon of March 3, 2024.
She reportedly left her car in her vehicle and set out alone. Her family became concerned when she didn't return for dinner.
Police found the woman safe at 1:30 p.m. on Monday in Sloatsburg, New York after posting about her disappearance on social media.
Residents in the area took up the search, and by around 1 p.m., a resident spotted her on their ring cam and alerted police.
It is unclear what Heinbach endured for the 25 hours she was on her own or what led her to get lost.
