NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - New York City's mayor is calling a report that he often takes a nap on an office couch after his workouts as "ridiculous, ridiculous."
The New York Post, citing unnamed sources, reported that Mayor Bill de Blasio "regularly takes midday naps while everyone around him is busy at work."
In an interview with Good Day New York host Rosanna Scotto, the mayor called the New York Post a right-wing propaganda operation.
"It's ridiculous. It's sad. It's sad how much they want to focus on everything that is negative even when it's not true," de Blasio said. "That's what they do. I'm ignoring it because it's not true."
De Blasio does have a history of being a bit of a night owl. When he was first running for mayor in 2013 he was an hour late for an 11:30 a.m. rally. At the time he blamed a 5 a.m. phone call that "threw off my sleep cycle."
In 2014 he missed the tolling of a bell at a ceremony that marked the 9:15 a.m. moment that American Airlines Flight 587 crashed in Belle Harbor, Queens. He blamed a lack of rest for his late arrival.
Rosanna Scotto interviewed the mayor Tuesday on a range of topics. Extended portions of the interview ran on Good Day New York on Wednesday.
