Massive police response in Washington Heights after man shot

Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of West 163rd St. and Amsterdam Ave. in Washington Heights.

A man was shot in the face after a group of people threw rocks at an apartment in Washington Heights, according to police in New York. The gunman fired from the window, striking the man on Thursday. It was unclear why rocks were thrown at the window.

Police in tactical gear converged on West 163rd Street off Amsterdam Ave. after the shooting.

SkyFox was over the area at about 11 a.m. as several blocks were taped off by police.  An armed officer could be seen on a rooftop and more than a dozen cop cars were lined up nearby.

A woman was seen handcuffed and walked to a police cruiser. A man was also arrested at the scene.

The man that was shot was taken to Harlem Hospital. His condition was unclear.
