Marc Jacobs isn't apologizing for dreadlocks on runway

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Fashion designer Marc Jacobs sent models down the runway at Thursday's New York Fashion Week show with sky-high platform kinky boots beneath hues of purple and blue, with strings of raw, twinkly light-bulbs hanging down and splotches of fake puddles on the floor.

But it was the hair on the models that is causing an uproar.

Jacobs is being criticized for outfitting mostly white models with rainbow dreadlocks.

Some accuse Jacobs of cultural appropriation or using elements of one culture by members of another culture.

In this case, the implication is that Jacobs is exploiting black culture for profit.

While he did respond to his critics, Jacbos did not reportedly make mention of the current racial tensions across the country.

NY Mag posted a response from Jacobs:

"And all who cry “cultural appropriation” or whatever nonsense about any race of skin color wearing their hair in a particular style or manner - funny how you don’t criticize women of color for straightening their hair. I respect and am inspired by people and how they look. I don’t see color or race- I see people. I’m sorry to read that so many people are so narrow minded…Love is the answer. Appreciation of all and inspiration from anywhere is a beautiful thing. Think about it."
