Man ran over girlfriend 3 times at gas station

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a man who allegedly ran over his girlfriend three times after he choked her at a gas station has been indicted on attempted murder charges.

James Crudup also faces charges that he used the SUV as a weapon in the December 2014 incident. The 45-year-old Toms River man faces up to 30 years in prison if he's convicted on all counts.

The indictment was recently handed up by an Ocean County grand jury.

Prosecutors say Crudup and the 35-year-old victim were arguing at the gas station in Toms River when he threw her to the ground and choked her.

The 35-year-old woman then briefly escaped Crudup. But authorities say she was soon run over three times before Crudup drove off.

The woman was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.

Crudup remains jailed on $500,000 bail.
