Man barricades self in hospital

An emotionally disturbed man fired several shots into a wall at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

An emotionally disturbed man was taken into custody after barricading himself inside of a bathroom and firing shots at a wall inside Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on the Upper East Side.

The NYPD tweeted out that the man was taken into custody Thursday night without incident at the hospital at 425 East 67th Street and no one was reportedly injured.

The 61-year-old man, who was not immediately identified, fired several shots into a wall in the urgent care bathroom, according to police. He was believed to be a cancer patient.

The standoff lasted several hours. An investigation into the incident was underway.
