NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) - An 18-year-old man is charged with manslaughter after punching an elderly man onto the subway tracks.
The NYPD says that Edward Cordero slugged 65-year-old Jacinto Suarez Wednesday at the jay St.-MetroTech station. Suarez fell from the punch and landed on the subway tracks.
Bystanders pulled up Suarez from the tracks before an R train entered the station. The FDNY rushed him to a hospital but Suarez died a short time later. He was a father of ten and a grandfather of 15.
Police said the two men were involved in a "physical altercation" but it was unclear if it was an unprovoked attack.
Relatives told the Daily News that the teen suffers from schizophrenia.
