Man arrested for threatening woman with pitchfork

Police on Long Island arrested a man after they say he threatened a woman with a pitchfork.

Nassau County Police say it happened about 6:50 p.m. Thursday at Belmont Racetrack.

Police received a call about a suspicious man carrying a pitchfork.  They say that Rigoberto Herrera Luna, 33, of Hempstead Turnpike had jumped on the hood of the car of a 27-year-old woman while holding a pitchfork and demanded she call police.

Officers say Luna then attempted to pull the victim from the car.  They were able to arrest him without anyone getting hurt.  They say he had cocaine on him at the time of his arrest.

He was hospital for evaluation.  Luna is charged with attempted robbery, menacing, unlawful imprisonment, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and drug charges.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, April 05, 2019 in Hempstead.  No information about a lawyer for Luna was available.
