NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Pop singer and New York City resident Madonna was reportedly ordered by the NYC Dept. of Transportation to get rid of fake no parking signs outside her townhome on the Upper East Side.
According to gossip site TMZ, the "Tenant Parking Only" sign in front of her home and the "No Parking" warning embossed on her sidewalk have to go immediately. While a parking spot is a hot commodity in New York City, the signs are not legal. It is not clear if they were there when she purchased the E. 81st St. house for $32 million in 2009.
Fox 5 News went to the townhouse on Thursday afternoon and the signs and yellow paint at the curb were still there. A few paparazzi photographers were across the street but there was no activity visible at the home.
In an Instagram post Madonna responded to the controversy: "So sorry the city doesn't like the color yellow! We will paint a nice dull grey to keep our neighbors happy! Sorry."
Madonna is coming off a year-long world tour and an on-going custody battle for her son, Rocco, with ex-husband Guy Ritchie.
