Madonna, Guy Ritchie take custody battle to NYC
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Madonna, 57, had a call-in courtroom showdown on Wednesday with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, 47, over custody of their son Rocco Ritchie, 15.
The child of the music icon and movie director was expected to return to New York City Wednesday after a judge ordered him home last year.
The boy's famous parents have been in the midst of a bitter custody battle that began in December when Rocco Ritchie refused to return to Madonna from his father's home in London.
On Dec. 23, Madonna asked a judge to force her son back. The boy has reportedly said he would like to live with his father.
The judge agreed and ordered Rocco Ritchie in New York City by March 2 while his parents work out a custody agreement. That agreement fell apart Tuesday, their lawyers said.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie--who divorced in 2008--called into court Wednesday.
State Supreme Court Justice Deborah Kaplan urged Madonna and Ritchie to settle the matter.
"No one is disrupting his household other than the inability of the parents to reach a resolution," Kaplan said. "If they cannot resolve this matter then eventually the court will."
The 'Material Girl' singer has taken to social media to express her love for her son despite reports the two being at odds over his upbringing.
