Black Friday is less than a week away but you don't have to wait in order to get your hands on some designer deals. Several big name department stores are opening up off-price locations.

Macy's was the first coast to coast department store. It now operates at more than 740 locations nationwide.  But recently, the focus has been on a spinoff of the iconic brand called Macy’s Backstage. It is intended to compete with other off-the rack discount retailers and attract the next generation of consumers.

Macy's is hoping its new Backstage stores will stand out in a crowded field of discount department retailers.

“The variety, the quality, the prices, they're a little less so that's good” one man told us.

The store in West Orange is the first in New Jersey. Five others are located in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Long Island are all opening this fall.

Macy's Senior VP  Vanessa Lefebvre says a key market, millennials or anyone between the ages of 18-34, maybe one reason the store offers a special selfie station.

“The millennial customers appreciate value and high fashion" she said.

It is a competitive market Lord and Taylor just opened a new discount hub in Paramus, NJ, it's not far from the off price stores for Nordstrom’s, Neiman Marcus and Saks. And Bloomingdale's is reportedly planning to open a flagship outlet in Manhattan soon.

Robert Stone, a 23 year-old millennial, picked up a dress shirt at Backstage..

And like anyone from any generation, he appreciates a good deal. “Price point for millennials, we like to look nice without spending that super nice price tag” Stone said.
