In January, Amanda Morris became one of the faces of New York City slashings. The 24-year-old was walking to work at Whole Foods in Chelsea when a total stranger attacked her.

She says that after the attack, she couldn't go outside without people staring at the gash on her face. But then a few months later she met dermatologist Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali from Sadick Dermatology.

Dr. Bhanusali saw Morris's GoFundMe page where she was raising money for treatment. He didn't want Morris to have to pay for expensive reconstruction so he offered her treatment for free. He contoured her nose with a scalpel, used some steroid injections to get the scar tissue away, and then used lasers.

After only four months and three treatments, Morris's injuries are almost unrecognizable. It is going on 6 months now since Morris was attacked and now that her scars are gone and the fear is fading, she says her confidence is back. She says she is happy and feels so lucky that she has gotten through the ordeal.
