President Donald Trump continues to try to push through his agenda. But the administration continues to be dogged by negative headlines.

Tuesday was the first full day on the job for the new chief of staff, retired Gen. John Kelly. Sanders confirmed Kelly will have the authority and those wishing to meet with the president must go through him.

Trump is ramping up momentum for his coming push on tax reform. He met Tuesday with small business owners promising them a double-digit tax cut. The president said he will also take a swing at immigration reform.

The Washington Post reported the president personally dictated a misleading statement about Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with a Russian attorney during the campaign.

The statement described the encounter as "a short introductory meeting" primarily discussing "the adoption of Russian children." Trump Jr. was later forced to amend the statement. He admitted the real purpose of the meeting was not to hear about adoption but to learn something "that would incriminate Hillary Clinton."

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, "The president weighed in, as any father would based on the limited information that he had."

Some Democrats are skeptical of the White House response.
