Jon Stewart urges 9/11 responders to sign up for Zadroga Act

Comedian Jon Stewart was at the '9/11 Memorial Museum' in Lower Manhattan Sunday.

The former 'Daily Show' host held a 'Facebook live' event and along with John Feal of the FealGood Foundation and Dr. Melius, who is part of the 9/11 health watch group, reminded 9/11 first responders and survivors who are still suffering from health issues about the 'Zadroga Act.'

Congress extended the health care program last year to cover funding until 2090.

Stewart urged thousands who may be eligible to sign up for coverage now.

"Let me tell them the number. It's 888-982-4748. That's the line to call first. That's the health line," he said.

According to Dr. Melius, first responders do not need to be sick to sign up, if you were in the area during 9/11, you’re automatically eligible to get screened and monited.

More than 75-thousand 9/11 first responders and survivors have already signed up for the program while 30,000 people have not claimed 9/11 help.
