NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A man posing as a customer tried on a gold chain inside a jewelry store in the Bronx but never gave it back.
The robber briefly put on the necklace before quickly turning his back to the store employee, handing the chain to his female accomplice who gave him another and hid the real one inside her shirt, said police.
The man then hands the fake chain back to the employee.
The pair pulled off the switcheroo inside the Kay Jewelers on Baychester Ave. on June 9 at approximately 3 p.m.
The robbery was caught on security cameras and the footage was released by the NYPD.
When a store employee and security guard confronted the thieves, they were unable to find the real gold chain.
Police are asking for the public's help finding the duo.
The male suspect is described as Hispanic, 20-30 years old, and approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearinga blue sweater, blue jeans, sunglasses and a dark blue baseball cap at the time of the robbery.
His accomplice is described as Hispanic, 20-30 years old, 5'4"-5'5" tall with blonde hair. She was wearing a blue jean jacket with black sleeves, sunglasses, a white T-shirt and dark colored pants.
