Jennifer Holliday to perform at McDonald's Gospelfest

A legend will be gracing the stage at this year's McDonald's Gospelfest: the iconic Broadway and singing star Jennifer Holliday.

Holliday took home a Tony Award for her role as Effie in the original production of "Dreamgirls." A song from the award winning musical "And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going" won her a Grammy Award when she released it as a single.

But it was singing in the church where Holliday was originally discovered when she was a teenager. God has been very important to Holliday.  She has turned to god during tough times.

The theme of this year's McDonald's Gospelfest is "Honor thy mother." Holliday says along with God, her mother's love has been key to her success.

Holliday says her songs offer hope, something that's deeply personal to her.

While Holliday has had ups and downs she always believed in her gift. That's something she encourages aspiring singers to follow.
