NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) - A cold front moving through the New York area overnight will bring a cold blast on Friday and snowy, wet weather for the morning commute.
"Precipitation with the front is expected to start as rain, however as colder air moves in behind the front, the rain will change over to a wintry mix before changing to all snow after midnight," the National Weather Service said in a statement. "As temperatures fall towards and below freezing by Friday morning, there is a high threat for icy conditions to develop during the morning commute, resulting in hazardous driving conditions."
One computer model predicts 1 or 2 inches of snow in most of the tristate area by Friday morning. The morning commute may feature hazardous travel.
Fox 5 Sky Guardian radar showed rain changing to snow north and east of New York City late Thursday night into Friday. That pattern will continue overnight into the area.
