Heavy rain for NYC region Monday

Rains will sweep through the New York City region Monday afternoon. Flooding is likely.

A coastal flood warning was in effect for NYC from noon until 3 p.m.

The National Weather Service also has issued a coastal flood advisory extending the length of the New Jersey shore, with roadway flooding expected in low-lying areas.  %INLINE%

The weather service reports the Millstone River in Somerset County was above flood stage, and flooding was occurring throughout Burlington County.

In northern New Jersey, the Passaic River in the area of Pine Brook was expected to reach one foot above flood stage by Wednesday.  

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for New York City.

The height of the rain was expected around 3 p.m. It could last until the late evening.
