null - Vice President Kamala Harris is getting a new endorsement for president from UNITE HERE, the hospitality workers’ union.
This latest endorsement comes as Harris is expected to select her running mate this week ahead of November’s presidential election. She's also secured enough votes from delegates to be the Democratic Party’s nominee for president.

According to the Associated Press, the endorsement includes a commitment by UNITE HERE to have its members knock on over 3 million doors for Harris in swing states that include Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona and North Carolina.
The union's support for Harris is an apparent response to Donald Trump’s efforts to woo restaurant and hotel workers by promising to make their tips tax-free.

Gwen Mills, the union’s president, told the AP that the Republican presidential candidate was "making a play" for votes compared to Harris, who has credibility from having supported unions.
Trump proposed eliminating tips from federal income taxes during a June 9 presidential rally in Nevada.
The AP noted that the Harris campaign has suggested that the November election result will depend on which side has a higher voter turnout, which is where UNITE HERE believes it can assist Democrats.
