Hannah and Derek Jeter welcome first child
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - Future Baseball Hall of Famer Derek Jeter and fashion model Hannah Jeter are proud parents to a baby girl.
Bella Raine Jeter was born Thursday, August 17, 2017, according to a tweet from The Players' Tribune, a website that Derek Jeter founded.
The New York Yankees also tweeted about the big news.
In February, Hannah Jeter wrote an essay for The Players' Tribune called "The Derek I Know" in which she confirmed her pregnancy.
"[Our kids are] going to be born into such an extraordinary situation. We don't want them to be defined by their dad's name — for them, we want him to just be 'Dad,'" she wrote. "That will be the piece of him they'll have that the rest of the world doesn't. It will be special, and it will be theirs."
In 20 seasons for the Yankees, Derek Jeter, 43, had a stellar career with 3,465 hits, 1,923 runs, and a .310 batting average. He is part of an investment group that is set to purchase the Florida Marlins.
Hannah Jeter, 27, has appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue several times and has modeled for Ralph Lauren, Victoria's Secret, American Eagle Outfitters, Tommy Hilfiger, and more. She and Derek Jeter married in 2016.
