CLATSOP COUNTY, Ore. (FOX 13) - Three people fishing in Oregon had the scare of their lives when a wayward vessel slammed into their boat.
The crash was caught by GoPro cameras mounted on the Salmon Trout Steelheader Magazine team’s boat. It happened in August 2017, but the video was not released until January 2018.
In the video, a man can be seen trying to wave down the boat’s crew as it approached, but it quickly became apparent the boat was fast approaching and showed no sign of a direction change.
At just the last second, the three people on the small fishing boat went overboard, just as the larger boat made contact.
In a Youtube video posted by Salmon Trout Steelheader Magazine, three men address the camera, urging people to wear their lifejackets.
The man in the middle was one of the men seen in the video of the crash.
“Lesson learned,” he said, pulling at his lifejacket. “I’m not that much of a meathead I can’t admit I was wrong in not wearing a lifejacket, especially when I had them in the boat.”
In the video of the crash, it does not appear the boat’s occupants were wearing lifejackets, but Salmon Trout Steelheader Magazine said all three were doing fine, “just a little shaken up.”
