Good karma: Man wins $200,000 from lottery ticket after giving money to homeless man

BOISE, Idaho - A man cashed in on good karma when he won $200,000 from a lucky lottery ticket on Tuesday after giving money to a homeless man the previous day, the Idaho Lottery said.  

Brandon Sedin got off work on Monday when he was shopping around the Boise Towne Square and gave a few dollars to a homeless man on a street corner, according to the lottery. Then, shortly after his random act of kindness, Sedin stopped at a local store and bought a few Idaho Lottery tickets. 

“I don’t play that often, but I just felt I should pick some up,” Sedin told lottery officials. “Wow, talk about karma!”

On Tuesday, Sedin scratched and won the last top prize on the scratch game Juggernaut Jackpot. He then found himself standing in the winner’s lobby at the Idaho Lottery offices in Boise. 

“I have a big winning ticket,” said Sedin when he presented his winning scratch ticket for payment at the Lottery’s customer service window.  “Yeah, it’s a pretty good Tuesday.”

Sedin plans to save and invest his winnings.  

The store that sold the ticket received a bonus of $20,000 from the Idaho Lottery.
