Georgia's oldest resident celebrates 113th birthday
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Georgia's oldest living resident is celebrating her 113th birthday on Friday.
Ms. Maggie Katie Brown Kidd was born on December 8, 1904, and she recently celebrated her milestone with family and friends in Clayton County, where she lives.
The supercentenarian is the oldest resident in Clayton County as well as in the state of Georgia. Last year, she was also named the oldest living African-American in the United States.
According to ClaytonCounty.gov, Kidd was the youngest daughter of 12 children to William and Lucy Brown. She was born and raised in Oglethorpe County where she worked on her family's farm. She's lived in Clayton County since 1991 and is a member of the Frank Bailey Senior Center in Riverdale.
Kidd remains active and even served as the Grand Marshall at the City of Riverdale's recent Christmas parade.
Ms. Kidd credits God as the secret to her long life.
