Gator knocks on Wesley Chapel home's front door

Imagine hearing a knock at the door, then finding not a human visitor, but an alligator on the other side.

That's what happened to an employee of USF and his roommate living in Meadowpoint II in Wesley Chapel Wednesday.

JR Hawarth told FOX 13 News he was editing videos to post on social media for his company, Renegade Soccer Training, when he heard a knock at his front door.

Hawarth said his roommate, Oscar answered the door, but it wasn't a person looking to get in. When Hawarth came to look out the window by the door, he saw a 7-foot alligator trying to get in through the glass.

"I grew up on the golf course, so I've seen plenty of alligators, but this was pretty intense," Hawarth said in a Facebook message to FOX 13 News, adding he could hear the reptile hissing through the door.

He said a representative with the community's homeowners association was looking for the alligator after it left.
