TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Gas prices have ticked up in New Jersey following a drop in gasoline supplies in the northeastern United States while demand remains robust.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded was $2.55 in New Jersey last week, up a penny from the previous week but much lower than the $2.86 at this time last year.
The average gas price across the nation was $2.65 a gallon, also up a penny from last week but also well below the average of $2.86 at this time last year.
Analysts expect pump prices to continue to creep up until supply grows or demand declines, which they say "is likely to happen as motorists in the region settle into the fall driving season."
