Park East Synagogue Rabbi Arthur Schneier talked with Fox 5 about the meaning of Jewish celebration of Passover, a spring festival that marks the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.

Freedom is something Rabbi Schneier holds dear. Just before the Holocaust in 1938, when he was 8, he fled to Budapest with his mother. Many of his relatives died during the Holocaust. He and his mother came to the United States in 1947.

Passover happens in the springtime. The rabbi says that is a time that all of us can think about new beginnings and hope. Hope keeps the rabbi, now 86, going.
