Multiple arrests made in hit-and-run near Yankee Stadium
Three people have been arrested after a deadly hit-and-run crash in the Bronx that left 69-year-old Cathy Garcia dead.
NEW YORK - Police on Friday arrested three people who fled the scene of a fatal vehicle crash next to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx a day earlier.
A BMW X6 traveling west on East 161st Street crashed into Mitsubishi Outlander heading south on River Avenue in the Concourse section at about 5:15 a.m., the NYPD said.
The driver and two passengers got out of the BMW and took off on foot, police said.
A 69-year-old woman who was driving the Mitsubishi was taken to Lincoln Hospital where she died, New York City police said.
Police identified her on Friday as Cathy Garcia of the Bronx.

Deadly hit-and-run crash near Yankee Stadium
Police are investigating after three people ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in the Bronx near Yankee Stadium on Thursday.
The NYPD arrested the driver of the BMW — Carlos Hernandez, 24, of Queens — and charged him with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and criminal possession of stolen property.
Authorities charged Edwin Amparo, 29, and Atahualda Rodriguez, 28, both of Manhattan, with criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglar tools. Cops said they were passengers in the BMW.
All three suspects have also been linked to a number of catalytic converter thefts.
