NEW YORK - Fashion designer Manuel Palferez wakes up every morning thinking about women and their silhouette.
He fell into fashion by accident. When he was 15, a year after coming to the United States from the Dominican Republic, his sister was going to fashion school and he stumbled upon her bag of fabrics.
His sister gave up on fashion but Manuel started sketching designs.
Eventually, Palfarez graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology. He briefly worked in interior design, but after the recession, his boyfriend convinced him to get back into fashion.
His dresses have now appeared on red carpets like the billboards and the Latin Grammys.
