NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - The NYPD is warning about two men who are using Facebook to set up meetings to rob people.
They say that the suspects make an agreement on Facebook to meet the victim in order to buy a pair of sneakers. When they meet up, the suspects show a gun and rob the victim.
The NYPD says it's happened at least six times in the past several months.
The first incident happened on Friday, April 28. A 21-year-old man was robbed of Adidas sneakers on Bedford Ave.
On Friday, May 5, a man saied he had a gun and took the 18 year-old victim's Yeezy sneakers at Avenue D and East 25 Street.
On Friday, June 16, two individuals approached 17-year-old at Cortelyou Road and East 21 Street and pulled a gun and stole the victim's Yeezy sneakers.
On Friday, June 23, pulled a gun inside Burger King located at 2848 Church Avenue, and demanded the 16 year-old victim's Yeezy sneakers. They also took an iPhone, and a backpack.
On Monday, July 10, the suspect pulled a gun on the 18 year-old inside the same Burger King, and took his Apple Watch and $229.
On Wednesday, July 12 the suspect walked up to the 20 year-old man inside the Newkirk Avenue "5" train subway station and punched him in is face. The individual took two pairs of Yeezy sneakers and ran away.
Police released the following description: The suspect is a male, black, dark complexion, last seen wearing a black shirt, red and gray short, black baseball cap and dark colored sneakers.
