Connie Brown, 72, has run 36 consecutive NYC Marathons. She will complete her 37th in November, 2015.

As a former P.E. teacher, Connie Brown knows the importance of exercise. It's a passion to take it above and beyond that to marathons.

"Most of my life, I've been going forward. I like continuing going all the time, so marathon racing seemed to be a natural progression for me," said Connie.

There are many different layers to her that make her truly extraordinary.

She's consistently running marathons and Connie will be 72 in December. Connie's birthday will fall about a month after her 37th consecutive New York City Marathon, making her the record holder for consecutive NYC races.

"I'm so proud of her because of what she does." Matt Brown, Connie's husband said.

He’s proud; others are inspired.

"I have much younger women and men come up to me saying, ‘WOW. That's my goal; that’s what I want to do. I want to be like you!’,” said Connie.

Connie has all 36 New York City Marathon medals, dating back to 1978. It would have been 37, but the race was canceled in 2012 because of Superstorm Sandy.

This November, she’ll have number 37 to add to her to collection.
