Drug treatment clinic owner accused of drug trafficking

KANSAS CITY, Mo - The operator of a Kansas drug treatment clinic has been indicted in Kansas City, Missouri, on federal charges of drug trafficking.

Trevor Robinson, 44, was indicted Tuesday on one count each of possessing methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and ecstasy, with the intent to distribute the drugs, federal prosecutors for western Missouri said in a news release Thursday.

Authorities said in the release that Robinson was the owner of Nuvista, an opioid addiction clinic in Olathe. Robinson remained listed Friday as the office manager and case coordinator on the clinic's website. Neither he nor others at the clinic immediately returned a phone message left Friday seeking comment.

Prosecutors said the case got its start in October when Kansas City police stopped a 2014 Maserati driven by Robinson. During the stop, officers found 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, pills, plastic bags containing cocaine and heroin, a digital scale, more than $12,500 in cash and a leather-bound ledger notebook, prosecutors said.

It was unclear if Robinson had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashleigh A. Ragner. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department, the FBI, and the Northeast Kansas Drug Task Force.
